Revamped StillWell Star Line On the Way to Retailers

Earlier this year, Dunbarton Tobacco & Trust announced major changes to its StillWell Star line: more vitolas, new blends and new packaging. This week, those new cigars are shipping to stores.

Introduced five years ago, StillWell Star is Dunbarton Tobacco & Trust’s brand that combines pipe tobacco into a handmade cigar. Since its debut, the line was offered in four regular production blends as well as a limited edition Holiday blend, all made in a 6 x 52 toro. For 2026, the number of blends has been streamlined to three, though each is offered in the toro vitolas as well as a petit robusto.

The new lines are still made at Fábrica de Tabacos Joya de Nicaragua S.A. and the pipe tobacco comes from Cornell & Diehl, one of America’s largest pipe tobacco companies.

While two of the new versions were made by combining previous StillWell Star blends, the third cigar is one of the original StillWell Star releases with a new name:

• StillWell Star Aromatic Dulce Maduro — The same blend as the existing Aromatic No.1.
• StillWell Star Aromatic Dulce Claro — A brand-new blend made from a hybrid of previous StillWell Star Holiday releases.
• StillWell Star English Dulce Maduro — A “tweaked” version of the English No. 27 blend.

Two other changes for 2026 are that all StillWell Star cigars now use a sweetened cap, and each blend now has its own dedicated band color to make them easier to distinguish from one another.

“For the first two years after launch, all four of the original ligas sold well and about even, but over the last couple of years, it was the sweeter ‘aromatic’ blends,” said Steve Saka, founder of Dunbarton Tobacco & Trust, in a text message to halfwheel. “(The) No. 1, No. 22 and Holidays continued to grow in sales, whereas the Bayou, English and Navy have slowly decreased in sales. All versions were selling, but the market definitely prefers the sweeter, more aromatic options, so I have decided in the best interest of the brand to focus on those- but me being me, I had to throw in that Sweet English because it is my personal favorite.”
