Today we review the Joya de Nicaragua Clásico Original Green Room Selection. The Green Room Selection is a limited edition 6 x 54 diadema based on the Joya de Nicaragua Clásico Original line. During the 1970s, under President Richard Nixon, Joya de Nicaragua became known as the White House’s official cigar. As such, it was offered to guests in the White House Green Room after formal events and became an important part of Joya de Nicaragua’s history. The Clásico Green Room Selection pays homage to that period. Joya de Nicaragua launched the Green Room at the 2026 Premium Cigar Association (PCA) Trade Show in New Orleans, Louisiana.
SPECIFICATIONS
The Clásico Original features an Ecuadorian-grown Connecticut Shade wrapper over a Nicaraguan binder and filler. The 6 x 54 diadema is actually one of the oldest sizes in the Joya de Nicaragua portfolio. The company produced a total of 1,200 ten-count boxes of the Green Room.

PERFORMANCE
The Green Room opened up with notes of cream, cedar, pepper, citrus, and earth. Early on, the cream and the cedar notes moved into the forefront. Meanwhile, the pepper, citrus, and earth notes settled in the background. At the same time, an additional layer of black pepper appeared on the retrohale. By the midway point of the smoking experience, the cream subsided into the background. The black pepper increased, and the citrus rose slightly. The final third saw the black pepper close in on the cedar. Meanwhile, the cream, citrus, and earth rounded things off.
The flavors started out mild to medium-bodied before progressing to medium-bodied in the second half. These flavors were countered by mild-to-medium strength. Meanwhile, the draw of the Green Room was excellent, delivering a touch of resistance, which I like. The burn was a little jagged at times, and these did require touchups. While not a bad burn, I still found the Green Room needed more touchups than I prefer.
OVERALL ASSESSMENT
Final Thoughts
One of my favorite lines in the Joya de Nicaragua portfolio is the Clásico Original. Clásico Original smokes like an old-school cigar, and I especially enjoyed it in the Toro format. I was very curious what the Clásico Original would do in the diadema shape. For the first two-thirds, I enjoyed it. Once the cedar and pepper became more prominent with the Green Room, I found this cigar less enjoyable. In the end, while I wouldn’t refuse this cigar again, I’d still reach for the Clásico Original in the Toro format. My recommendation is to try a sample first and see what you think.
