Apostate Cigars’ first cigarillo is on the way to retailers.
The Lost Pages is a 4 x 20 machine-made cigarillo that uses a Brazilian Arapiraca wrapper on the outside and a filler blend composed of chopped up remnants of all eight of the company’s existing core blends. All of the cigars are being made at Tabacalera Palma in the Dominican Republic.
Each cigar has an MSRP of $1.45, and it is packaged in 100-count boxes. The cigar’s name refers to the “original manuscript pages of what Joseph Smith, founder of the Latter Day Saint movement, said was the translation of the Book of Lehi,” according to Wikipedia.
“Prepare to become a chain smoker,” said Kendrick Woolstenhulme, co-founder of Apostate Cigars, in a press release. “These little treats are something truly special.”
Apostate Cigars was founded in 2020 by Brandon Oveson and Woolstenhulme, and the company gets its name from a term in Mormon culture that refers to the fact that choosing to smoke cigars is an open act of rebellion against the church’s teachings, as tobacco is forbidden in Mormon culture. Woolstenhulme and Oveson both grew up in Utah as active members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, who are also known as Mormons. The company’s cigars are named after parts of the religion.
