There’s a new shipment from Viaje shipping next week, included in it is the first cigar from an all-new line from the company.
The Viaje Honey Bale is a new Nicaraguan-made brand. While a company spokesperson declined to answer questions about the blend or which factory is making the cigar, a post on social media explains the inspiration for the new release.
“In every harvest, most bales meet expected standards of aroma, texture, and consistency,” said the company. “Yet, occasionally, a rare few emerge with distinctive qualities; deeper sweetness, richer aroma or a uniquely balanced character that sets them apart from the rest. These exceptional bales are often noted by experienced selectors and valued quietly.”
Honey Bale will debut in a 5 1/4 x 54 robusto extra that has a small piece of gold leaf applied at the top of the cap. The Viaje spokesperson told halfwheel that the gold foil is applied on top of a traditional cap, though the company did experiment with closing the cigar with just the gold cap.
The jars will hold 30 cigars and have a bamboo lid.
Also shipping is the latest release of the Viaje Birthday Blend, a series that started in 2016 to celebrate the birthday of Andre Farkas, the company’s founder. Most of the Birthday Blend cigars have been 6 x 52 torpedoes, though for the most recent release, in 2024, the vitola used was a 6 1/4 x 54 torpedo.
As has happened in previous years, there’s a standard Birthday Blend 2026 and then one cigar in the box that is wrapped in gold foil, which is included for good luck. That cigar uses a different blend, though Viaje hasn’t said what makes it different.
Each box will contain a total of 49 cigars: 48 of the standard cigars and one in gold foil.
Pricing has not been announced.
