Aaron Sigmond and book designer Liliana Guia have teamed up to release a new book, CIGARS: A Culture. Sigmond and Guia had previously teamed up for CIGARS: A Biography. CIGARS: A Culture picks up where A Biography left off. Mad/Dash Press is publishing the book, and the Premium Cigar Association (PCA) is presenting it to the industry.
When Sigmond and Guia set out to create CIGARS: A Biography, they organized the content into three main sections. Initially, there was a fourth section that was largely written but remained undesigned and unedited. However, as A Biography expanded to 424 pages, the authors decided to omit this section to keep the book from becoming too lengthy.
Sigmond and Guia decided to revisit this unreleased material. They expanded it into this all-new, standalone, limited edition volume known as CIGARS: A Culture.
CIGARS: A Culture is being released in the U.S. and the Caribbean with a four-cover variant. Each cover features a different cigar-and-pen pairing, while the interior content remains identical. Each copy is selected at random at the time of order. The idea behind that is to encourage acquisition among collectors. Additionally, select international editions for Europe and the Middle East will be offered exclusively within those respective markets.
“A Biography took readers on a journey—chronicling the cigar across time, soil and sea—through the Caribbean Basin, the Americas and Europe, from tobacco growers and cigarmakers to merchants. A Culture continues that journey— beyond the fields, the curing barns, fermentation, tobacco warehouses, rolling and arrival on merchants’ shelves,” commented Sigmond in a presss release. “This new work explores cigars through the lens of arts, culture, media, events, accessories and epicurean pursuits—all the refined pleasures, pursuits and customs that orbit the cigar.”
Pre-orders have opened on Sigculture.com. The book will be released in October 2026.
