Tradecraft Cigars Announces Shinobi as Fourth Core Line

Tradecraft Cigars has announced the launch of Shinobi, its fourth core line.

The blend features a high-priming Ecuadorian Sumatra wrapper, a Mexican San Andrés binder, and a filler that contains tobacco from Connecticut, the Dominican Republic and Nicaragua, all of which come from the viso priming. The blend was developed by Rob Blumenthal, owner of Tradecraft Cigars, and Hostos Fernández Quesada, owner of TABACALERA LA iSLA in the Dominican Republic, where the cigars are produced.

The company describes Shinobi as a full-bodied blend that is “dark, sweet, and slow-burning,” delivering notes of coffee, cinnamon, cocoa powder, and saffron.

“True to Tradecraft form, we are tapping into our love of history,” said Blumenthal in a press release. “There is perhaps no other culture we love more than the ancient Japanese. We are collectors of Japanese swords from the Kamakura and Muromachi era, collectors of Japanese tattoos and appreciators of Japanese art.”

Shinobi is the traditional Japanese term for what has come to be known as a ninja, though they were often common people hired to work as spies or saboteurs. The term comes from the word shinobu, which means to hide or steal away.

The cigars will first be released via Luxury Cigar Club and its subscription packs, before hitting its online shop in the next week or two. It will be available to other retailers in December.
