MBombay Kesara Pyramid 2020 & MQBA Mayura Pyramid 2019 Showing Up on Shelves

MBombay has announced the release of two new limited edition pyramid vitolas, each with at least five years of age on them.

The first cigar is the Kesara Pyramid 2020, a 6 x 54 pyramid vitola made with an Ecuadorian Connecticut-seed wrapper covering an Ecuadorian Havana 2000 binder and filler tobaccos grown in the Dominican Republic and Peru. Kesara—the Sanskrit word for saffron—was the company’s fourth line when it debuted in 2014.

In addition, the company has released the MQBA Mayura Pyramid 2019, a 6 x 54 pyramid with a blend that uses an Ecuadorian HVA wrapper and Ecuadorian binder over filler tobacco from Paraguay, Peru and Nicaragua. The MQBA Mayura line was introduced in 2019 as a line extension of the original MQBA blend, which was an Ecuadorian puro.

Both cigars were rolled at Tabacos de Costa Rica factory before getting additional aging; the Kesara Pyramid 2020 was aged for six years, while the MQBA Mayura Pyramid 2019 was aged for seven years. Each Kesara Pyramid 2020 has an MSRP of $29.95, with 834 boxes of 10 being released, while the MQBA Mayura Pyramid 2019 has an MSRP of $39.95 and a total production of 826 boxes of 10.

“We had one roller who could make this shape and one lot of tobacco to make it from,” said Mel Shaw, founder of MBombay, in a press release. “When the lot was gone, so was the run. Then we waited until the cigars were ready, not until the calendar said it was time.”

According to Shaw, boxes of both cigars started shipping to retailers on Oct. 21.
