Viso Horny Turns to Oveja Negra for Ligador Fantasma

Viso Horny, the cigar brand from Tyler Jeffery, has announced an upcoming limited edition that will come from a different factory than the ones the brand is known to have worked with.

Ligador Fantasma is a new 5 x 50 robusto. It uses corojo and candela wrapper leaves to create a barber pole look. Underneath is a habano binder and the fillers are from Nicaragua and the U.S. All of the fillers are from the viso priming, the middle section of leaves on a vertical tobacco plant.

Pricing has not been announced and production is limited to 500 bundles of 10 cigars. It is expected to ship in late summer.

The cigar is being made at Fábrica Oveja Negra in Estelí, Nicaragua.

“Oveja Negra has long been one of my favorite factories in Nicaragua — not just for what comes out of it, but for the people behind it,” said Jeffery in a press release. “Getting to know James and Angela (Brown), watching how they approach blending and what it actually takes to run a factory at that level, has been one of the genuine highlights of building this brand. This cigar is a direct reflection of that relationship and the respect I have for what they’ve built.”

Jeffery says that Ligador Fantasma is a tribute to those who blend cigars. He specifically cited those who have helped him in his journey, including the Browns, Skip Martin and Alex Nowogrodzka of Nica Sueño, Gustavo Cura and Angel Oliva III of Oliva Tobacco Co., and Mo Maali of Patina Cigars.

Earlier this year, Jeffery purchased Pipe World, an Austin-based retailer. His Viso Horny brand is slotted under his El Bebe Grande Cigar LLC company, while Pipe World is licensed to be the wholesale distributor.
