Casa Carrillo is releasing a second size of its Perez-Carrillo Pledge Purple in the form of a 5 1/4 x 52 Robusto. The new cigars are expected to arrive next week.
Pledge Purple was introduced earlier this year as a limited production offshoot of the Perez-Carrillo Pledge. The Pledge Purple uses the same Connecticut Havana wrapper that is found on the original Pledge Cigar, but it has been aged an extra five years. Dunn & Foster grows this wrapper in Connecticut. Underneath, the Pledge Purple is a different blend than the original Pledge. It uses a Mexican binder and all Nicaraguan fillers from Condega, Estelí, and Ometepe. The first Pledge Purple was released as a 6 x 54 Toro. The Robusto will come in ten-count boxes.
Cigar Aficionado reported pricing of the Pledge Purple Robusto at an SRP $16.50/cigar. Both the Pledge Purple Toro and Robusto sizes will be produced in limited quantities at select times throughout the year.
