There’s another mariner coming from RoMa Craft Tobac.
The company has announced a new Marinero line, which will—at least for now—be offered in one vitola but two different blends. If the Marinero name sounds familiar, it’s because the company released the CRAFT Maquette El Marinero in March. Both of the new cigars are based on that blend.
Marinero Boatswain, at least on paper, is the same blend. It uses a Mexican San Andrés wrapper over a binder from Ometepe, Nicaragua and fillers from the Dominican Republic and Nicaragua. Marinero Cocksawin uses an Ecuadorian Connecticut-seed wrapper over a broadleaf binder.
Both cigars are round 6 x 60 gordos and have an MSRP of $10 per cigar. They will come in 25-count bundles. For reference, the Maquette El Marinero was a box-pressed 4 3/4 x 54 gran robusto.
The names are all nautical themed. Marinero is the Spanish word for mariner, while boatswain and cockswain refer to people who oversee the operations of a ship. Skip Martin, co-founder of RoMa Craft Tobac, is a U.S. Navy veteran.
RoMa Craft Tobac will launch the Marinero bundle lines next month at two stores: Caribbean Cigars in Miami and Pipe World in Austin. The company says it expects them to ship to other stores later this year.
