Prometheus Ships Diademas for OpusX Rare Black, Rare Purple & God of Fire Never Back Down, Special Reserve

New diadema vitolas for four different Prometheus blends are on the way to stores.

The lines are the OpusX Rare Purple, OpusX Rare Black, God of Fire KKP Never Back Down and God of Fire KKP Special Reserve. There are three new vitolas, the same three vitolas for each line, but this week, Prometheus has made the first shipment. Somewhat confusingly, it’s not shipping the same two vitolas for each line.

Shipping this week are 100 boxes each of the items not in bold:

Later this month, the company will ship the remaining four SKUs.

Beyond the new vitolas, Keith Park, founder of Prometheus, told halfwheel, that the branding of the Purple Rain line has been slightly modified. While all the cigars in the line use the same blend—Dominican tobaccos, including a wrapper from the Chateau de la Fuente farm—the three new vitolas will not be called “Purple Rain.” Instead, they are called “Carlito’s X Rare Purple.” The original Purple Rain cigar, a 6 7/8 x 44 torpedo, will continue to use the Purple Rain branding.

Blend-wise, the Rare Black is covered in a Dominican wrapper grown on Arturo Fuente’s Chateau de la Fuente farm, but the rest of the blend has not been disclosed. It debuted in 2019 in a single 6 7/8 x 44 torpedo vitola, and a 7 5/8 x 49 Double Corona was added in April 2021.

The KKP Special Reserve line was released in 2022 to commemorate the 15th anniversary of the God of Fire brand. Blend-wise, the KKP Special Reserve is described as a Dominican puro.

Prometheus released the God of Fire KKP Never Back Down in 2024 to celebrate the God of Fire brand’s 20th anniversary. Initially, there were two vitolas for the Dominican puro—a 6 x 56 Gran Toro and a 5 1/4 x 58 Piramide—and a 6 1/4 x 54 Toro Extra was added last year.

Finally, Prometheus is shipping the first 100 boxes of its Fuente Fuente OpusX Serie Heaven and Earth Rare Black Six Cigar Selection sampler. Each sampler has an MSRP of $425 and includes one each of all five vitolas in the Rare Black line, along with an extra Diadema 54:

All of the cigars are made at Tabacalera A. Fuente y Cia in the Dominican Republic and sold by Prometheus. None of the items are limited editions, though they are limited in production and release cycle
