Plasencia Cigars is preparing to release the seventh annual installment of its annual Chinese New Year cigar, titled El Año del la Cabra (Year of the Goat).
Produced at the Plasencia factory in Danlí, Honduras, El Año de la Cabra features a Honduran wrapper grown in Olancho’s Azacualpa terroir and a binder from the Jamastrán Valley. The fillers combine Honduran and Nicaraguan filler tobaccos, including organically grown tobacco from Estelí, Nicaragua. El Año de la Cabra viene en un solo tamaño: 6 1/4 x 60, perfecto. The cigars come in ten-count boxes, and a total of 6,000 boxes have been produced.
The cigars are presented in a red lacquered wooden box, accented with gold detailing and intricate patterns inspired by the curves of a goat’s horns. Inspired by the traditional Chinese hóngbāo (紅包), or red envelope, each box includes individual cigar gift boxes that celebrate prosperity, generosity, and the spirit of sharing associated with the Lunar New Year.

With El Año de la Cabra, we wanted to create a cigar that honors that philosophy, bringing together the character of our Honduran and Nicaraguan tobaccos in an expression that is both distinctive and deeply rooted in the land.”
