Casa Carrillo is adding a robusto size to its Perez-Carrillo Pledge Purple line, and it’s expected to begin shipping to stores next week.
It’s a 5 1/4 x 52 box-pressed vitola, and uses the same blend as the other sizes in the line, meaning a Connecticut-grown, havana-seed wrapper from Dunn & Foster that comes from the same crop used for the cigars in the original Pledge line’s debut in 2020. Underneath the wrapper is a Mexican binder and fillers from Nicaragua’s Estelí, Condega and Ometepe regions.
Pricing is set at $16.50 per cigar and $165 for a box of 10 cigars.
This is the second size for Pledge Purple, joining the 6 x 54 toro that was released in March. Both sizes are described as limited production, with the cigars made at Casa Carrillo’s factory in the Dominican Republic and boxes released throughout the year.
