Lure’s The Fat Matt Shipping Tomorrow

The newest limited edition from Lure Cigars was inspired by a family member of company owner Lou Cross.

Described as a follow-up to the Nereus that was released earlier this year, The Fat Matt is a 5 x 54 robusto grande made with a sun-grown Ecuadorian habano wrapper covering a ligero binder grown in Estelí, Nicaragua and a filler blend that includes Honduran and Nicaraguan leaves. The cigars are made at La Tabacaria Cigars in Esteli, Nicaragua.

Matt is a reference to the future father-in-law of Cross’ son.

“My son’s fiancé is from South Florida and her father, Matt, is a new cigar enthusiast and now part of the family,” said Cross in a press release. “He catches Peacock Bass in the canal system behind their house. Since we already have a cigar called ‘The Fat Tony’, a 5×54 in the Corojo Oscuro line, it seemed fitting to name this release after him.”

Lure uses a fishing theme for its brand, and a peacock bass is used as the branding for this release.

Roughly 20 retailers will sell the Fat Matt. Bundles of The Fat Matt are scheduled to begin shipping to retailers on Aug. 14. Lure is distributed by Valacari Cigars.
