Fermin Perez’s Newest Line Showcases Tobacco from Estelí, Nicaragua

Share

It’s not all that uncommon to see a cigar with a blend of tobacco that comes from one country, but for his newest release, Fermin Perez Jr. is focusing on a specific region of one country: Estelí, Nicaragua.

The new line is called Puro Estelí, and as the name suggests, all the tobacco comes from what is considered the cigar-making capital of the country. The blend is highlighted by a sungrown habano wrapper, with the varietals of the binder and filler not disclosed. Perez blended the line to explore the region’s character and to provide a focused expression of the tobacco grown there.

The cigars are also made in Estelí at Tabacalera Familia Disla S.A.. This is the first new line for Fermin Perez Cigars after the company moved its production to Tabacalera Familia Disla, the factory that produces Domain Cigars, among others. It’s offered in a 5 1/2 x 42 corona size, which is priced at $8 per cigar. Perez told halfwheel that there aren’t plans to add any sizes in the foreseeable future.

The cigars are now shipping to retailers, with Fermin Perez Cigars distributed by Domain Distribution.
