Camacho’s famed Liberty Series is once again back at stores, though in a very different way than before.
From 2002 through 2021, nearly every summer brought a limited edition Camacho Liberty Series cigar to stores. For most of its life, the Liberty Series was known for coming in a unique 11/18 perfecto shape, packaged in coffins, and serving as the flagship of the Camacho portfolio. In 2021, Davidoff, which purchased Camacho in 2008, released the Liberty Series 2021, which it said would mark the end of the series.
Earlier this year, the company showed off a reincarnated Liberty Series release, made to honor the 250th anniversary of the founding of America. Last week, that cigar became available, though not for sale.
Blend-wise, the Camacho Liberty 250 is a 6 x 54 toro extra that uses a wrapper from the U.S. over a Honduran binder and fillers from the Dominican Republic, Honduras and the U.S.A.
The cigars are offered in bundles of 10 and, perhaps most notably, not offered for sale. Instead, the cigars are available at Davidoff’s new event series, Red, White & Beef Experience, where consumers will have two ways to get their hands on the cigars. One involves signing up for a pairing of the Camacho Liberty 250 with biltong jerky, a type of jerky that has a longer cure time than standard beef jerky. In addition, consumers who make a qualifying purchase will be given the cigar. The Camacho Liberty 250 is packaged in red, white or blue bundles; regardless of the bundle color, the cigars inside are the same.
Davidoff held its first Red, White & Beef Experience event last week and will continue hosting events through October. A list of events can be found here.
