At this past week’s meeting of the Tobacconists’ Association of America, Tatuaje announced that it would be releasing a new limited edition cigar for the organization’s retail members that it plans to have on shelves in January.
The Tatuaje TAA 2027 is a box-pressed 5 5/8 x 54 vitola that comes with a covered foot. Its blend uses a Connecticut broadleaf wrapper over Nicaraguan binders and fillers. Production is limited to 3,000 boxes of 20 cigars, a total run of 60,000 cigars, with pricing set at $16 per cigar and $320 per box.
When it was announced, the TAA described the cigar as an homage to the first Tatuaje TAA release, which came out in 2011 and used the same size and blend. Tatuaje had released cigars for the organization every year from 2011 through 2023, before taking a break prior to this new release.

The TAA is a membership group consisting of around 80 retailers and approximately 40 manufacturers which gathers annually to discuss issues facing the industry and retailers, as well as to have its annual trade show, a unique event that works on a group buying format in order to secure exclusive deals for these generally high-volume merchants.
During the annual event—the 2026 version took place Oct. 25-29 at Casa de Campo in the Dominican Republic—the organization holds two selling events, one known as the Dream Machine, where the retailers collectively order to secure larger discounts, while the other is a more traditional trade show. Typically, around a dozen manufacturers release new exclusive cigars for the retail members of the organization under the TAA Exclusive Series Program (ESP) banner. Those manufacturers agree to give a portion of the proceeds to the organization, a minimum of 50 cents per cigar.
Casa Carrillo, Espinosa, Gurkha, J.C. Newman, Joya de Nicaragua, Kristoff, La Flor Dominicana, Rocky Patel, Scandinavian Tobacco Group, Tatuaje and Villiger Cigars North America have announced 2026 TAA ESP releases.
