CAO Amazon Basin Extra Añejo

General Cigar Company has announced the return of the CAO Amazon Basin Extra Añejo. This limited release uses the same recipe as the CAO Amazon Basin, but it’s aged an additional two years after being rolled.

Amazon Basin is a limited-edition cigar release made in small batches. It was first released in 2014 and features a rare, low-yield tobacco from Brazil known as Bragança. Since then, the Amazon Basin has seen some subsequent releases and several offshoot projects. This is the second time General has released the Amazon Basin Extra Añejo, with the last time being in 2022.

The Amazon Basin incorporates Dominican and Colombian tobaccos with the Braganca tobacco. It also uses a Nicaraguan binder and an Ecuadorian Sumatra wrapper. The cigar comes in one size – a 6 x 52 Toro. It is presented in 18-count boxes. Pricing comes in at an SRP of $15.89/cigar.

“Amazon Basin has always been a special blend because of the unique profile of Bragança tobacco from the Amazon rainforest,” said Cory Beardsley, Brand Manager for CAO, in a press release. “With Extra Añejo, we gave that blend an extra year to rest and fully mature. It’s the Amazon Basin experience people know, with time bringing even more depth to the blend.”
