Today we review the Robusto size of La Aurora Family Creed Perseverancia. Perseverancia is the second installment in La Aurora’s Family Creed series. La Aurora first introduced the Family Creed series in 2025 with Family Creed Fuerte Sol. The line was meant to showcase La Aurora’s commitment to the U.S. market.
In 2023, La Aurora established La Aurora USA, a subsidiary based in the United States and dedicated to serving the U.S. market. In addition to focusing on U.S. sales and distribution, La Aurora aimed to meet this market’s specific demands. After collaborating with several focus groups, the company used their feedback to introduce Fuerte Sol in 2025. Last year, another release from the Family Creed line, called Perseverancia, debuted. Both cigars differ from previous La Aurora offerings. Notably, both are box-pressed and feature wrappers La Aurora doesn’t typically use. Fuerte Sol, which translates to “strong sun,” is wrapped in a Mexican San Andres leaf, while Perseverancia is wrapped in Pennsylvania tobacco. Perseverancia, in particular, was designed to be a bold cigar.
The Family Creed series takes its name from owner Guillermo León’s own creed. Fuerte Sol and Perseverancia are lines in the series.
SPECIFICATIONS
Blend and Origin
I mentioned earlier that one thing that makes the Family Creed Perseverancia different is the fact that the blend incorporates Pennsylvania Broadleaf wrapper. The blend also uses Pennsylvania tobacco as part of the filler. Pennsylvania tobacco is typically incorporated for strength. Given the prominence of Pennsylvania-grown leaf in this blend, it’s no surprise this is positioned as a bold blend. La Aurora’s factory in the Dominican Republic produces it.

Appearance (*)
The Pennsylvania Broadleaf wrapper of the Family Creed Perseverancia Robusto had a medium-roast coffee bean color. Upon examining the wrapper, I noticed some mottling and oils. The mottling gave the wrapper a slightly rugged look. The cigar itself had almost no visible veins, and most of the wrapper seams were well hidden. The box-press was sharp. In my book, it wasn’t quite as soft (rounded box-press) as the Family Creed Fuerte Sol.
PERFORMANCE
Pre-Light Draw (*)
Before lighting up the Family Creed Perseverancia Robusto, I removed the parchment sleeve and footer band of the cigar (more on that in the Banding and Packaging Notes). Once the sleeve was removed, I used a straight cut to remove the cap. After that, it was time for the pre-light draw experience. The cold draw delivered mostly notes of brewed coffee along with a slight baker’s spice note. Overall, this was a satisfactory pre-light draw experience. At this point, it was time to toast up the footer of the Family Creed Perseverancia Robusto and head into the smoking phase.
Tasting Notes
The Family Creed Perseverancia Robusto opened up with an assortment of flavors. This included more brewed coffee, bittersweet chocolate, cinnamon, earth, mineral, and white pepper. No single note dominated early on, but by the middle of the first third, the coffee and mineral notes emerged as the primary notes. Meanwhile, the chocolate, cinnamon, earth, and pepper settled in the background. The retrohale had a sharp layer of mineral and pepper notes.
The coffee and mineral notes were primary in the second third of the Family Creed Perseverancia Robusto. During this time, the earth notes increased, and, to a lesser extent, the pepper notes did as well. By the midway point of the cigar experience, the earth moved into the forefront while the coffee receded to the background. Slowly, the chocolate and cinnamon notes diminished in intensity.
The final third saw the earth and mineral notes grounded in the forefront. By then, pepper became a more dominant secondary note. Meanwhile, notes of coffee, chocolate, and cinnamon were still present. As the Family Creed Perseverancia Robusto came to a close, the flavors muddied slightly, with a touch of harshness. The resulting nub was soft in temperature and cool to the touch.
Burn
During the four cigars assessed in the review cycle, the Family Creed Perseverancia Robusto simply did not perform. Each time the burn seemed to start out fine- low-maintenance burn path and low-maintenance burn line.
Later in the first third, the burn line meandered at times, and at other times it tunneled. This seemed to be mostly a problem that was mitigated in the second third, but there was a point at each cigar where this was a battle. The ash was loose and flaky, displaying a silver-gray color. Additionally, the burn rate and temperature were both ideal.
Draw
One sample of the Family Creed Perseverancia Robusto that was smoked during Prime Time Jukebox Episode 192 was plugged. That wasn’t part of an official review, so it didn’t count. Another sample was smoked on Prime Time Jukebox Episode 194 that didn’t have the plugged issue, but it also wasn’t part of an official review.
The good news from the official review is that there were no draw issues. The cigar provided just the right amount of resistance, which I appreciate. Typically, box-pressed cigars tend to have draws that are too loose for my preference, but that was not the case here.
Strength and Body
Do you remember the La Aurora Untamed Extreme? It was billed as the boldest La Aurora as it delivered a full-strength, full-bodied smoking experience. If you thought that was bold, the Family Creed Perseverancia Robusto is actually stronger and bolder. It delivers full strength, full-bodied flavors from start to finish. In fact, the strength and body increase along the way.
In terms of strength versus body, both attributes balanced each other nicely, with neither attribute overshadowing the other.
BANDING AND PACKAGING NOTES (*)
I really admired the packaging of the Family Creed Perseverancia. The vibrant orange boxes caught my eye, and I appreciated how the Family Creed statement was elegantly presented on the parchment paper, as well as the view inside the box.
Now for the bad news. The parchment sleeve and footer band design on the Perseverancia is similar to that of the Fuerte Sol. However, for some reason, I had difficulty removing the parchment sleeve. This issue was noted during Prime Time Jukebox Episode 192, as well as at various times during the review cycle. I want to emphasize that it is 2026, and it frustrates me that we still need to use adhesive tape for paper sleeves and ribbons. OVERALL ASSESSMENT
Final Thoughts
One thing I will say is the Family Creed Series has truly created cigars geared toward the U.S. market. If you like bold, full throttle, full strength cigars, the Perseverancia is for you. The flavors in the first third start out quite well, but then two problems arise. First, the burn issues, while they seemed to correct themselves each time, still negatively affected the experience. Second, the flavors got muddled and harsh in the final third, which was amplified by this being a full-strength, full-bodied cigar. In the end, with these problems, I cannot see myself coming back to the Robusto. However, the flavors intrigued me enough to try another size.
