Tradecraft’s Gladius Box Press Coming Aug. 22

Tradecraft Cigars has announced that its newest cigar, the Gladius Box Press, will go on sale on Aug. 22 at the Wooden Indian Tobacco Shop in Havertown, Pa., Tinder Box Haverford, and the stores’ respective websites before rolling out to Tradecraft’s retail partners at the end of September or beginning of October.

“To say I am excited and proud of this cigar is an understatement,” said Rob Blumenthal, president of Tradecraft Cigars and Tinder Box International, in a press release. “I adore the Gladius blend, which I consider to be one of the finest maduro cigars on the market, (and) in this 5 1/2 x 52 box press, the blend transforms into something truly special.”

The size also gets what Blumenthal calls a “109 x belicoso” style head, saying it is more oval-shaped than a traditional belicoso, which allows the cigar to sit perfectly in the mouth.

The Gladius is one of the company’s core lines and is described as the cornerstone of Tradecraft’s portfolio. The blend uses a Mexican San Andrés maduro wrapper, an Ecuadorian Sumatra-seed binder and a filler that contains Dominican criollo 98 ligero, Ecuadorian Puntiao, Pennsylvanian broadleaf and Pennsylvania ligero, which the company says creates a full, robust profile.

“This is the epitome of Tradecraft – full flavor, balance and complexity,” Blumenthal added, noting that this vitola delivers more body, more spice, and more chocolate than the round sizes in the line.

Pricing is set at $12.65 per cigar and $126.50 for a pack of 10 cigars. Tabacalera William Ventura in the Dominican Republic produces the cigars for Tradecraft, with Blumenthal noting that it is a regular production cigar focused on quarterly releases.
