Later this week, cigar smokers in the U.K. will be able to get their hands on the Tatuaje RC7, a new regional exclusive, limited edition.
It’s a 7 1/2 x 38 lancero, with a blend that uses an Ecuadorian habano wrapper over a Nicaraguan binder and filler, delivering the RC Series blend in a classic lancero vitola. The cigars are made at My Father Cigars’ factory in Estelí, Nicaragua, with the initial production limited to just 300 boxes of 10 cigars. However, more boxes may be produced in the future. Pricing is set at £19.99 ($26.57) per cigar.
The cigar was created to mark the one-year partnership between Tatuaje and Global Leaf Co., which distributes the company’s cigars in the U.K.
“Pete (Johnson) and I wanted to collaborate on a special release tailored specifically to the U.K. market, where a lancero format fits perfectly,” said Lewis Seymour, managing director of Global Leaf Co. “We also wanted to bring this to market at a very competitive price point to encourage more people to explore the cigar and the brand.”
The cigars will debut on July 30 during an event hosted by the retailer Havana House at its Windsor location, at which Johnson will be present. They will then be featured at the Summertime Smoke Festival of Cigars on Aug. 1 in High Wycombe, again with Johnson present. Havana House will be the exclusive retailer of the cigars in August, while other retailers will have access to them in September.
The RC Series, with RC an abbreviation for Retro Cuba, debuted in 2005 in two very large perfecto vitolas that were half-covered in foil: the 7 1/4 x 57 RC 184 and the 9 1/8 x 55 RC 233. In November 2016, the line would get three new sizes, the No.1 (4 3/4 x 52), the No.2 (5 5/8 x 54), and the No.3 (6 1/2 x 56),
