The Association of Dominican Cigar Manufacturers (PROCIGAR), together with the Ministry of Culture, the General Directorate of Museums, and the Monument to the Heroes of the Restoration Museum are introducing the Immersive Experience: Santiago de los Caballeros and the Tobacco Tradition. The experience will remain open to the public as a permanent attraction at the Monument to the Heroes of the Restoration Museum. The Museum is located inside the iconic “Monumento a los Héroes de la Restauración” in the heart of Santiago.
The initiative was developed as part of the collaboration agreement between PROCIGAR and the Monument to the Heroes of the Restoration Museum. The aim is to bring visitors the culture of Santiago. PROCIGAR has had a long relationship with the Monument. The PROCIGAR White Party that takes place at the annual festival has been held there for many years. The Monument is closed specifically for the festival event.
Through Meta Quest headsets, visitors will experience four audiovisual productions highlighting the tobacco tradition as part of the Dominican Republic’s cultural heritage.

Premium cigars are an emblem of the Dominican Republic around the world, but they also represent history, tradition, craftsmanship, and national pride. We are honored to be part of a project that educates, preserves, and showcases the very best of our identity,” said Litto Gómez, Vice President of PROCIGAR, in a press release.
María Belissa Ramírez, Director of the Monument to the Heroes of the Restoration, stated: “PROCIGAR not only made a new experience possible for our visitors; it also contributed to preserving the very place where this history is told. Today we celebrate a partnership that protects our heritage while creating new ways to share it.”
Tickets will be available for individual visitors and organized groups through the museum’s reservation system. To coincide with the 162th Anniversary of the Restoration War, during July and August, those born in the province of Santiago can enjoy the experience for free.
