In 2021, Jeremy McDonald’s Wildfire Cigar Co. debuted with two blends: The Single, a limited edition release, and The Revivalist, a regular production line. While that line was discontinued, a new limited edition version is now shipping to stores.
The new version of The Revivalist is a 6 x 50 box-pressed toro. Like the original release, it uses a Mexican claro wrapper over an Indonesian Sumatra-seed binder. However, the fillers are different; there’s Connecticut broadleaf, aged Italian tobacco, habano from Nicaragua and tobacco from Pennsylvania. Wildfire describes it as medium-bodied with notes of “earth, leather, and cream with notes of roasted coffee and charred oak.”
There are many differences between the original release and the new version. For example, the 2021 version was listed as only having Nicaraguan fillers and was made at Joya de Nicaragua. By contrast, the new version comes by way of Tabacalera William Ventura, is box-pressed and uses different packaging.
It’s the fourth release in the company’s new series of made-to-order limited editions, referred to as the Camp Counselor Enrollment Program. Each month, Wildfire Cigar Co. plans to offer a new limited edition with production based solely on the amount of preorders the company gets from retailers.
