Bond Roberts Adds Non-Cuban Cigar Auctions
Auctions of Cuban cigars are nothing new, and there is certainly a secondary market for non-Cuban cigars, but seeing Bond Roberts make this announcement caught my eye. While I don’t anticipate participating in any auctions, I do find it fascinating to watch how the open market prices things, especially on cigars that I’ve seen retailers mark up and consumers subsequently complain about. There’s also the issue of provenance and getting cigars that have been properly stored and shipped, and are ultimately able to be enjoyed. That said, does this help get cigars into the hands of more consumers? I doubt it, as I’m inclined to think it will just get them into the hands of the people who can afford paying a premium for them.
