Viso Horny Ligador Fantasma Ships

Viso Horny’s new barber pole is off to stores.

The Viso Horny Ligador Fantasma is a 5 x 50 robusto that was made at Fábrica Oveja Negra in Estelí, Nicaragua. The wrapper is a combination of a corojo-seed leaf and a green candela leaf to create the barber pole appearance, with the two different colored leaves creating a unique spiral appearance. The binder is a habano-seed, while the fillers are from Nicaragua and the U.S. All of the fillers are from the viso priming, the middle vertical section of the plant, between the lower seco leaves and the higher ligero leaves.

Each cigar has an MSRP of $15 and production is limited to 500 bundles of 10 cigars.

Tyler Jeffery, Viso Horny’s founder, wrote about the cigar on Instagram:

Back in October, I spent a few days at Fábrica Oveja Negra in Estelí with James Brown and Angela Brown, my second visit to their factory. Then drove down to San Juan del Sur to crash with Skip (Martin of Fábrica de Tabacos Nica Sueño/RoMa Craft Tobac) for the weekend.

I was telling him how much I love coming to Nicaragua: the culture, the language, the tobacco, the blending. I told him it’s funny how a lot of cigars get built from a distance: a message to the factory, a note to make it creamier or stronger, and the brand owner’s name goes on the band. Maybe they come down for Puro Sabor, pose for a few pictures, and call it a trip. Now, plenty of people genuinely spend a ton of time in the factory, but people do, do this.

Jeffery said that Ligador Fantasma is a tribute to those who live in Nicaragua and blend the cigars. He specifically cited those who have helped him in his journey, including the Browns, Martin, Alex Nowogrodzka of Nica Sueño, Gustavo Cura and Angel Oliva III of Oliva Tobacco Co., and Mo Maali of Patina Cigars.

Earlier this year, Jeffery purchased Pipe World, an Austin-based retailer. His Viso Horny brand is slotted under his El Bebe Grande Cigar, LLC company, while Pipe World is licensed to be the wholesale distributor.
