Scandinavian Tobacco Group’s Alec Bradley already has a cigar line named after kintsugi, next week, there will be a new ashtray inspired by the Japanese art form.
Kintsugi refers to the process of using lacquer, typically mixed with gold, to mend together broken pottery. The idea is to show the areas that broke and were repaired as opposed to hiding them. SIGLO Accessory has a new ashtray that looks like kintsugi, but was never broken. Instead, it’s made of fine bone China and has a gold decal mimicking the kintsugi approach.
It will go on sale next week, priced at HK$ 1,300 ($165.75).
SIGLO Accessory is a division of Pacific Cigar Co. Limited, a major distributor of Cuban cigars throughout Asia.
