Today we review the 2025 edition of the Mi Querida – The Emerald Fish by Dunbarton Tobacco & Trust. The Emerald Fish is a limited edition exclusive to Smoke Inn in South Florida. It was originally released in 2024 as the Mi Querida Green No. 2 Torpedo. The 2025 release saw the same cigar rebranded and repackaged as The Emerald Fish.
Mi Querida Green has always been a limited release. In 2023, the first Mi Querida Green, named PatoPerro, was introduced. This cigar is a massive 8 1/2 x 52 vitola, designed exclusively for events. Dunbarton Tobacco & Trust has maintained a long-standing relationship with Smoke Inn. For many years, the Red Meat Lovers line was made specifically for Smoke Inn. When Red Meat Lovers went national, Dunbarton planned to replace it with a new cigar called Kildahlton. However, master ligador Steve Saka was not satisfied with the progress of Kildahlton and decided to offer them a version of Mi Querida Green in a 6 x 52 torpedo format that he was developing. By 2025, Saka still wasn’t pleased with Kildahlton, and he re-released the cigar as The Emerald Fish.
The 2024 Mi Querida Green Torpedo No 2 came in a craft paper bundle. When it was rebranded as The Emerald Fish, it was put in a box.
SPECIFICATIONS
The Emerald Fish uses a Connecticut Broadleaf Dark Short wrapper. This is a wrapper that comes from the highest primings of a tobacco plant. According to Saka, these leaves tend to be scarce. The remainder of the blend features all Nicaraguan tobaccos. As with all Mi Querida cigars, the Emerald Fish is produced out of the NACSA factory in Estelí, Nicaragua.

PERFORMANCE
The Emerald Fish opened up with notes of mocha, citrus, nut, and damp earth. I usually describe mocha notes as a fusion of chocolate and coffee notes. The mocha notes became primary early on. As the cigar progressed through the first third, mineral notes joined the citrus, nut, and damp earth notes. White pepper emerged on the retrohale and then on the tongue.
The second third saw the damp earth notes increase in intensity and join the mocha in the forefront by the midway point. As the cigar progressed through the second third, some of the chocolate characteristics in the mocha notes diminished, and later in the second third it was more of a straight coffee note. Meanwhile, both the mineral and pepper notes started to increase slowly in intensity.
By the final third, the nut notes dissipated. The profile of the Emerald Fish was coffee and damp earth in the forefront with pepper, mineral, and citrus in the background. The cigar finished with a soft, cool nub.
I found my version of the Emerald Fish to not be as bold as the 2024 edition. In fairness, the 2025 edition was reviewed with nine months of age while the 2024 Mi Querida Green No. 2 had five months of age. The Emerald Fish started with medium strength and medium-bodied notes. While the strength only increased nominally and remained medium, the body of the Emerald Fish moved to medium to full.
Construction was excellent. The burn required minimal touchups to maintain a straight burn path and straight burn line. The draw has a touch of resistance – something that I like.
OVERALL ASSESSMENT
Final Thoughts
For the most part, the flavors of the Emerald Fish had the same profile as 2024’s Mi Querida Green No. 2. There were two noticeable differences: first, the blend was more dialed back this time around. Secondly, there was a little less complexity, but this was in exchange for what I felt were better flavors. I’m a fan of the Mi Querida Green. In the end, this is a cigar I could recommend to any cigar enthusiast, but in particular I think fans of Mi Querida’s other lines will enjoy this one. If by some chance you can find this, it is worth giving
