Cigar News – September 19, 2026

David Kelaty, founder and chief executive of Mantis, used InterTabac to introduce three products: a travel humidor, the Flex Marine ashtray collection and a forged carbon fibre cigar case.

Travel humidor. It holds 15 cigars with the sponge trays fitted, and more with them taken out. The case closes with watertight, airtight zippers, and the cover is watertight too.

Flex Marine. Three silicone forms — Flex Quadra, Flex Hex and Flex Octa — each with integrated cigar rests and a removable Shield that Mantis says contains ash in exposed outdoor conditions. The company describes the collection as tested for UV and salt-water exposure, and says the material has passed heat, ember-contact, deformation and staining tests. It comes in five colours: Marine Blue, Midnight Blue, Aqua, Stone and Cool Grey. Pieces can be personalised with a yacht name, crest or logo.

Forged carbon fibre cases. In two-, three-, four- and five-cigar sizes, with the marbled finish the forging process gives.

None of the three uses leather. Mantis does not use it anywhere in its range, a decision the company puts down to leather’s environmental footprint and to what it says are practical gains in moisture resistance, colour consistency, maintenance and weight. It builds with engineered textiles, silicone, metals and carbon fibre instead.

Done, and thank you.
