In 2013, it was Chapter One. In 2014, it was Capitulo II. Now, after more than a decade, the third chapter has been unveiled.
The La Flor Dominicana Chapter III was announced today as an exclusive for retailers that are members of the Tobacconists’ Association of America (TAA). Like the Chapter One and Capitulo II, capitulo is the Spanish word for chapter, it uses LFD’s signature Chisel vitola, a unique box-pressed 6 x 58 torpedo that has a long, flattened cap that comes together like two angled slopes instead of the cone shape that most cigars use.
Blend-wise, Chapter III uses a Mexican San Andrés wrapper over a blend of tobaccos from the company’s farm in La Canela, Dominican Republic. For reference, Chapter One used a Brazilian wrapper, while Capitulo II got a Nicaraguan wrapper.
A total of 3,000 boxes were offered to the TAA retailers. Litto Gomez Jr. told halfwheel that Chapter III will be an exclusive for the TAA accounts for one year, signalling there will eventually be more than 3,000 boxes. He added that the company hopes to have Chapter III on shelves in December.
The TAA is a membership group, around 80 retailers and approximately 40 manufacturers, that gathers annually to discuss issues facing the industry and retailers, as well as to have its annual trade show, a unique event that works on a group buying format in order to secure exclusive deals for these generally high-volume merchants.
During the annual event—the 2026 version takes place this week at Casa de Campo in the Dominican Republic—the organization holds two selling events, one known as the Dream Machine, where the retailers collectively order to secure larger discounts, while the other is a more traditional trade show. Typically, around a dozen manufacturers release new exclusive cigars for the retail members of the organization under the TAA Exclusive Series Program (ESP) banner. Those manufacturers agree to give a portion of the proceeds to the organization, a minimum of 50 cents per cigar.
Casa Carrillo, Espinosa, Gurkha, J.C. Newman, Joya de Nicaragua, Kristoff, La Flor Dominicana, Rocky Patel, Scandinavian Tobacco Group and Villiger Cigars North America have announced 2026 TAA ESP releases.
