On Tuesday, Sept. 1, United Cigars will release the two new vitolas of its Independence line. The blend, which is made by Arnold André in the Dominican Republic, debuted earlier this year in the Independence Firecracker, a limited edition release as part of United’s long-running Firecracker series of cigars. At the time, the company didn’t announce that there were new vitolas coming. However, last month, it said that Independence would

For the most part, cigar companies are rarely willing to publicly acknowledge that they are trying to compete with another company’s product. There are exceptions; quite clearly, no one has any issues mentioning that they are trying to make their version of a specific Cuban cigar. While Tom Lazuka, co-founder of Asylum, often mentions that his inspiration for the large ring gauges the brand is known for came from seeing

Domain Cigars has announced the launch of Domain Distribution, a new company that will provide distribution services for clients of Tabacalera Familia Disla S.A., the factory that makes Domain’s products, as well as the related Pariah Cigars brand. Last year, Hiram & Solomon announced a new release that was created to commemorate the company’s 10th year in business. The limited-edition cigar is named Ashlar, a Freemason term for a stone that symbolizes a mason’s moral self-improvement and spiritual growth. While the 6 x 52 cigar was shown off at last year’s PCA Convention & Trade Show, the torcedor—or cigar roller—who was supposed to roll the cigars passed away

Scandinavian Tobacco Group (STG)—the publicly-traded giant that owns Cigars International, General Cigar Co. and more—has announced its results for the second quarter of 2026. While STG was slightly down, it’s not due to cigar sales. The company reported DKK 2.334 billion in sales, which it says is down 1 percent from last year. STG has characterized the performance of a drop of just .1 percent at constant currencies, a reflection

Martello Cigar Co.’s first cigar is shipping to stores today. The Ortolan is a 6 x 50 toro, made at El Titán de Bronze. As with some other cigars made at the small Miami-based factory, it uses medio tiempo in the filler, a small leaf that grows at the top of a single-digit percentage of tobacco plants. Because of its positioning on the plant, the priming is said to be

Tatuaje has announced that it is just about ready to start shipping its newest limited edition, the Old Man and The C Monster, which pairs a lonsdale with a culebra. The company says the release will begin shipping next week. The Old Man and The C concept first came out in 2011 with the El Triunfador blend, then returned for a Black Label release in 2012 and a Fausto version

While cigar makers make cigars for consumers, they also make cigars for themselves, often a fine-tuned version of something that resonates with their palate or size preferences. While many of them remain with their creators, a lot of them will get turned into commercial releases. For instance, the Tatuaje Black Label is said to be—or at least be based on—a cigar that Pete Johnson created for himself, while the Viaje

Earlier this year, a new version of the Emilio Suave was shown off to retailers. Today, it is shipping to stores. The Emilio Suave Sumatra is a new two-vitola limited edition release. It’s highlighted by a Sumatra-seed wrapper from Indonesia. While the Emilio brand is owned by L.J. Zucca, James and Angela Brown of Black Label/Oveja Negra handle the blending, branding and distribution of the brand. The Emilio cigars are
