Kristoff has announced plans to release a milder version of its Pistoff Kristoff line, aptly named the Mildly Pistoff Kristoff.
The new line extension uses an Ecuadorian-grown, Connecticut-seed wrapper in place of the Mexican San Andrés wrapper of the original, while the binder and filler use the same Indonesian binder, and Nicaraguan and Pennsylvania broadleaf filler as are used on the current Pistoff Kristoff, which debuted in July 2016. The cigars are made at Tabacalera Von Eicken S.R.L. in the Dominican Republic.
“It’s a Connecticut cigar with an attitude,” said Glen Case, owner of Kristoff.
The cigars are slated to debut as an exclusive release for the Tobacconists’ Association of America (TAA) later this year before getting a widespread launch at the 2027 PCA Convention & Trade Show. Sizes and prices have not yet been announced.
The original Pistoff Kristoff line came in four sizes:
- Pistoff Kristoff Churchill (7 x 50)
- Pistoff Kristoff 660 (6 x 60)
- Pistoff Kristoff Robusto (5 1/2 x 54)
- Pistoff Kristoff Corona Gorda (5 3/4 x 48)
At the time, Glen Case described it as a full-strength profile, but one that is deceptively strong due to its flavor and smoothness. “It is strong enough to get your head spinning,” he noted.
In 2018, the company added the Extremely Pistoff Kristoff, a 8 1/2 x 60 gordo extra that took the line to an extreme size. Then, in March 2019, the company went to the small side, launching the 5 x 44 Lil Pistoff Kristoff, a cigar that went on to be named halfwheel’s No. 19 Cigar of 2019. Most recently, in 2021, the company added the Pistoff Kristoff Firecracker, a 3 1/2 x 50 vitola made for United Cigars’ Firecracker Series.
As for the name, a customer suggested that the company come out with a cigar called the Pissed Off Kristoff, and while Case liked the idea, he wasn’t crazy about the “pissed off” part, so he changed the spelling on it.
