Those interested in attending the new Honduran cigar festival can finally register and purchase tickets.
The Consejo de Artesanos del Tabaco de Honduras, the Honduran cigar manufacturers’ association, is hosting a cigar festival for the first time: La Gran Cata 2027. Like other festivals in the Dominican Republic and Nicaragua, it will include a mixture of cigar factory visits and other non-cigar activities, as well as themed dinners for each night.
A unique highlight will be a Sunday night dinner attended by President Nasry Asfura.
The festival will begin on Saturday, Jan. 23, in Tegucigalpa, the country’s capital, before moving east to Danlí, where most of the country’s cigar industry is located.

- Jan. 24 (Sunday) — Tour of Tegucigalpa, President’s Dinner
- Jan. 25 (Monday) — Drive to Danlí, Cigar Factory Visits, Typical Dinner
- Jan. 26 (Tuesday) — Cigar Factory Visits, White Party
- Jan. 27 (Wednesday) — Departure from Danlí
Registration is $2,500 per person—or $4,000 for two married people who will split a room—which includes all activities, lodging, ground transportation, lunch and dinner, and lots of cigars. It does not include airfare.

One other unique aspect is that the organizers of La Gran Cata have designed the schedule so that people who want to attend both the Honduran festival and Puro Sabor 2027, Nicaragua’s annual cigar festival, can easily do so.
When the Honduran festival wraps up, guests will be transported either back to Tegucigalpa or over the Nicaraguan border, where they will join Puro Sabor. Like in Honduras, Nicaragua’s festival begins with a couple of days spent in the country’s capital, Managua, before moving to Estelí, home to the cigar industry.
Those choosing to take the transfer will miss the first couple Puro Sabor days in Managua, but should experience most, if not all, of the Estelí portion of Puro Sabor, which also heads to Estelí on Wednesday.
