Lure Cigars has announced it will release its first Connecticut Shade cigar, the Codfather. The cigar ships October 21, 2026.
Lure Cigars commissioned the Codfather for its founder, Lou Cross III, to honor his father, Lou Cross, on his 90th birthday. Unfortunately, the cigars arrived too late for the celebration and were instead shared with family and friends at his funeral. The overwhelmingly positive response to those cigars inspired Lou Cross III to establish Lure Cigars in the fall of 2023.
The original Codfather blend was created in a small figurado vitola. For this first limited-edition release, the company adapted the blend into a 6 1/2 x 54 Sublime. The cigar features an Ecuadorian Shade wrapper over a Nicaraguan binder, with fillers made from aged Nicaraguan and Honduran leaf. La Tabacaria Cigars in Estelí, Nicaragua, produces it, while Valacari Cigars handles distribution.
The Codfather features a mild-to-medium blend, with production limited to 4,000 cigars. The cigars come in ten-count, pearl-white paper packs with Boveda humidification. The SRP is $16.00/cigar.
