Tradecraft Cigars has announced its fourth core line, Shinobi. The line draws inspiration from Japanese culture.
Shinobi is a Japanese word meaning ninja—a person associated historically with espionage, infiltration, scouting, and covert operations. It is sometimes used in anime, Japanese fiction, or games to refer to a Ninja.
Tradecraft Shinobi is described as a full-bodied 5 1/2 x 52 Gran Robusto. It features a Sumatra wrapper and a San Andres binder. The filler is a Nicaraguan-forward blend of Jalapa and Condega leaves, along with Connecticut Broadleaf and Olor. All of the filler tobaccos are viso primings.
Tradecraft Owner Rob Blumenthal developed the blend, and Hostos Quesada produced itat Tabacalera La Isla in Santiago, Dominican Republic.
“True to Tradecraft form we are tapping into our love of history. There is perhaps no other culture we love more than the ancient Japanese. We are collectors of Japanese swords from the Kamakura and Muromachi era, collectors of Japanese tattoos and appreciators of Japanese art. There is no other group in history that embody the spirit and application of Tradecraft more than the Shinobi. Perhaps the inventors of Tradecraft. So much so in fact, that the tactics and techniques of the Shinobi were recorded in the historical documents, The Shoninki,” commented owner Rob Blumenthal in a press release.
The cigar is getting a pre-release at Luxury Cigar Club and will be shipped to Tradecraft’s retail partners in December.
