La Aurora Expanding Hors d’Age Line for 2026

October will see the release of two of La Aurora’s flagship releases, each a different series of vintage cigars.

In most years, these two annual releases simply mean the next batch of cigars is leaving the aging rooms and heading to stores. However, one of the two lines is getting a new vitola for 2026.

The La Aurora Hors d’Age line will continue to be offered in its standard 5 3/4 x 54 toro, but new for 2026 is a 6 7/8 x 40 lancero. Blend-wise, Hors d’Age uses an Ecuadorian Sumatra wrapper and binder over filler tobaccos from Colombia, the Dominican Republic and Nicaragua. La Aurora says all of the tobacco is aged for at least 12 years, and the cigars were rolled in 2025.

There are 700 boxes of the toro and 500 boxes of the lancero, which are expected to ship in late October.

While the two cigars share the same blend, the lancero has green branding accents.

“The combination of these aged tobaccos in a format that accentuates the Ecuador Sumatra wrapper is something that I’ve smoked personally each year; however, I am now excited to share this format with the rest of my friends in the U.S.,” said Manuel Inoa, La Aurora’s master blender, in a press release.

In addition, La Aurora will also release the La Aurora Puro Vintage 2016.

This time, the tobacco comes from the 2016 harvest. As with previous releases, it uses an Ecuadorian habano wrapper over a Brazilian binder and fillers from Colombia, the Dominican Republic and Nicaragua.

The Puro Vintage is offered in a distinct 6 1/2 x 50/60 salomón vitola.

“The Salomón format gives this cigar a very special smoke,” said Inoa. “Its shape, the doble figurado, makes it evolve differently as it opens and closes the ring during the burning, accumulating strength at the end. A real festival of taste from around the world.”
