Hoyo de Monterrey Le Hoyo Debuts in New Sampler

This month, Scandinavian Tobacco Group’s General Cigar Co. will begin selling the Hoyo New Legends Sampler.

It’s a four-count sampler with 6 x 52 toros from three existing lines and one new line:

• Hoyo de Monterrey Oscuro
• Hoyo de Monterrey Rojo
• Hoyo de Monterrey Shade
• Hoyo de Monterrey Le Hoyo

Each sampler has an MSRP of $27.59

The new line is the last cigar, Le Hoyo, which STG says is made by the company’s “top rollers” at its factory in Danlí, Honduras. Blend-wise, Le Hoyo uses a Honduran OSA wrapper over a broadleaf binder and fillers from the Dominican Republic, Honduras and Nicaragua. STG says a full launch of three vitolas in standalone boxes is still months away, but for now, the toro is offered via this sampler.

STG has announced the other two vitolas, but not any other details like pricing, box counts or a release date.

“The New Legends pack puts the best of our brand on offer for our fans,” said Scott Abney, brand manager for Hoyo de Monterrey, in a press release. “We wanted to give them the opportunity to try Le Hoyo here first alongside three classic Honduran cigars. Not only are each of the cigars incredible on their own, but together they represent different elements of the legendary Hoyo story.”

This is the second Hoyo de Monterrey Le Hoyo line.

Habanos S.A., which sells the Cuban version of the brand in nearly every country other than the U.S., has its own three-vitola Le Hoyo line. Scandinavian Tobacco Group, which is unrelated to Habanos S.A., only sells the non-Cuban version of the brand in the U.S.
