Tatuaje’s Old Man And The C Monster Shipping Next Week

Tatuaje has announced that it is just about ready to start shipping its newest limited edition, the Old Man and The C Monster, which pairs a lonsdale with a culebra. The company says the release will begin shipping next week.

The Old Man and The C concept first came out in 2011 with the El Triunfador blend, then returned for a Black Label release in 2012 and a Fausto version in 2021. Now, the all-Nicaraguan Creature blend gets its turn, but the cigars are a bit thicker, going from the typical 7 1/2 x 38 lancero vitola to a 7 x 44 lonsdale.

Pricing is set at $54 per coffin, which includes one lonsdale and a culebra, itself three separate cigars that are twisted together but meant to be smoked individually. Each box, which has an MSRP of $324, comes with six coffins, a total of 24 individual cigars.

Production is limited to 1,300 boxes, meaning 7,800 coffins have been produced.

Tatuaje debuted the Creature blend in September 2021, when it was included in the Monster Mash sampler,  a collection that included the original 13 Monster Series releases in their original ring gauges, just an inch-and-a-half shorter. Three years later, a second Creature version would be released in the Monster Smash sampler, which contained the 14 blends, each in a box-pressed 5 1/4 x 52 robusto vitola.

It would be two more years until what would be considered the full-size Creature from Tatuaje would be released, arriving at stores this past June.

As part of Tatuaje’s Monster Series, the Creature gets its name from a movie monster, specifically “Creature from the Black Lagoon,” the 1954 movie about a mysterious animal—an amphibious humanoid—found in a remote jungle in the Amazon Rain Forest and the scientists who seek to investigate it.
