After nearly a year of work, Cavalier Genève has announced that a new warehouse in Houston is now operational.
The new facility, located at 4215 S. Main Street in Stafford, was built to serve the company’s U.S.-based retailers and other clients, and the location was chosen not only for its central location but also for its international airport and port. Cavalier Genève has been working since last year to increase production in order to have as much inventory as possible to store at the new facility. Stafford is located about 15 miles southwest of Houston’s city center.
Previously, Cavalier Genève shipped its cigars directly from its own distribution facility in Danlí, Honduras to retailers via UPS, a relatively uncommon method for fufilling orders. Most companies opt to ship larger quantities of cigars from the factory to a stateside warehouse or distribution center that keeps inventory on hand and fulfills orders placed by a retailers, a practice that Cavalier will now use.
“This year marks a lot of positive news that we are glad to share with our estimated Cavalier crowd,” said Sebastien Decoppet, founder of Cavalier Genève Cigars, in a press release. “On top of the special releases, we have actively been working since the end of last year to open a new warehouse, based in the Houston, TX area. This move includes a new warehouse manager, as well as new processes to provide our customers with new service standards meant to improve customer experience. It took a few months to get everything ready to go, and we are now excited to announce this officially.”
In an email, Decoppet told halfwheel that one of the most dramatic changes will be faster and more predictable shipping times. In addition, the new warehouse staff will be able to provide more support to retailers by offering a “better/faster point of entry for inquiries,” while also supporting the sales team by following up on orders.
