Quesada Suspiro Arriving at Retailers

Quesada’s new sweet-tipped line is showing up at stores.

The new Quesada Suspiro is available in two wrapper options, each with a sweetened cap. The Suspiro Connecticut is made with a Connecticut-seed wrapper from an undisclosed country, while the Suspiro Oscuro uses a Cameroon-seed wrapper from Ecuador. Regardless of wrapper, the binder is Dominican and the filler tobaccos are from the Dominican Republic and Nicaragua. Quesada is making its cigars at its Tabacos de Exportación factory in Licey, Dominican Republic.

Both wrapper options are available in a 6 x 52 toro; the Connecticut gets a short robusto, while the Oscuro has a standard robusto.

A suspiro is a delicate meringue dessert, though the word also means “sigh” in Spanish.

“This cigar came from our desire to explore something new while staying true to the essence of Quesada,” said Raquel Quesada, co-owner of Quesada Cigars, in a press release when the line was announced in late March. “With the experience we’ve gained over generations, we approached this project with the same discipline and respect for the tobacco that guides everything we do. The goal was to create a cigar that offers a complete and balanced experience, where every element works in harmony and the tobacco remains at the center of the moment.”

In an email, Cristhian Lanzas, marketing director for SAG Imports, told halfwheel that boxes of both Suspiro blends started shipping to retailers late last week. When the Suspiro was announced, it was listed as having a late April ship date.
