Patina Plans Red Pill Sumatra

First, there was the Patina Red Pill, offered in two box-pressed robusto and toro options. Earlier this year, the company added a third vitola, this time a toro that is round. Next, there will be a Red Pill with a different wrapper.

Mo Maali, founder of Patina Cigars, has teased a Red Pill Sumatra. He told halfwheel that the wrapper is a Sumatra-seed oscuro varietal grown in Ecuador, though said other details like vitolas, pricing and a release date are still being worked out.

For context, the regular Red Pill uses a Mexican San Andrés oscuro wrapper over a Connecticut broadleaf binder and fillers from Nicaragua and the United States.

Like other Patina products, all three vitolas are made at Nicaragua American Cigars S.A. in Estelí, Nicaragua.
