Toscano has released a larger version of its Toscanello Rosso Caffè as an exclusive for Canadian retailers.
The Toscanello Rosso Caffè is a 6 1/4 x 36 cheroot made with an Italian-grown Kentucky-seed wrapper, while the filler is a blend of Kentucky and Italian tobaccos infused with coffee and espresso flavors. As is the case with the Toscanello Rosso Caffè Macchiato that was released in 2013, the new cigar has a sweetened cap.
The cigars are being made at the La Aurora Cigar Factory in the Dominican Republic.
In an email, Ryan O’Shea, marketing and communications coordinator for Toronto-based distributor House of Horvath, told halfwheel that the new larger cigar was created by Toscano to comply with regulatory amendments to Canada’s Tobacco Act that took effect in 2015. Those amendments included language that barred characterizing flavors in all cigars weighing six grams or less, which meant that Toscano needed to create a heavier cigar to sell in Canada.
According to O’Shea, each cigar is priced at $7.75 in Ontario and is available for purchase as a single cigar or in 30-count boxes. Boxes of the Toscanello Rosso Caffè were released at retailers in Canada yesterday.
