More than a year ago, Christian Eiroa, the founder of CLE Cigar Co., announced that he was working on a reblend of the Eiroa Dark blend, saying he wasn’t satisfied with how the original blend had evolved from its debut in 2019.
He has finally settled on a new blend and it is heading to stores. Eiroa declined to give blend details to halfwheel but described the Eiroa Dark as a project where he is “chasing a taste from the past.” He suggested that the company’s new farms in both Colombia and Honduras have helped in reblending the cigar, a hint about what tobaccos are used for the blend.
For reference, the original Eiroa Dark was made entirely of corojo-seed tobaccos from Honduras. In 2023, a limited edition Eiroa Dark vitola ranked #7 on halfwheel’s Top 25.
It will be very easy to tell the original blend and the new version apart as the latter has been branded as Eiroa Dark 30th; the 30 is a reference to Eiroa’s 30 years working in the cigar business.
The blend is offered in four regular production vitolas:
- Eiroa Dark 30th 50×5 (5 x 50) — $18.06 (Box of 10, $180.60)
- Eiroa Dark 30th 11/18 (6 x 48/54/48) — $19.26 (Box of 10, $192.60)
- Eiroa Dark 30th 54×6 (6 x 54) — $19.26 (Box of 10, $192.60)
- Eiroa Dark 30th 60×6 (6 x 60) — $20.26 (Box of 10, $202.60)
Eiroa said that CLE Cigar Co. has started shipments this week and that the cigar would become more widely available in July.
