The La Aroma de Cuba Habano Reserve has gotten a second vitola.

Ashton Distributors, Inc.—the parent of the La Aroma de Cuba brand—has begun selling the new La Aroma de Cuba Habano Reserve El Jefe, a massive 7 x 58 parejo vitola. Blend-wise, the Habano Reserve uses an Ecuadorian habano rosado wrapper over a Nicaraguan binder and fillers from the Estelí, Jalapa and Namanji regions of Nicaragua. Ashton says that all of the Nicaraguan tobacco used is grown by the García family, who also roll the cigars at their My Father Cigars S.A. factory in Estelí.

The La Aroma de Cuba Habano Reserve El Jefe is debuting in a five-count sampler called the La Aroma de Cuba El Jefe Assortment, which includes three different La Aroma de Cuba blends in this vitola. Each sampler includes:

  • (2) La Aroma de Cuba El Jefe (7 x 58)
  • (2) La Aroma de Cuba Connecticut El Jefe (7 x 58)
  • (1) La Aroma de Cuba Habano Reserve El Jefe (7 x 58)

The samplers have an MSRP of $50 and are considered a regular production item.

Later this year, Ashton plans to sell the Habano Reserve El Jefe in standalone 24-count boxes, where the cigars will have an MSRP of $10.60. The company says it will make 2,500 available later this year.

The La Aroma de Cuban Habano Reserve debuted in a 6 x 52 toro vitola that the company calls Monarch. Like the El Jefe, the Habano Reserve Monarch was first offered in a sampler before it became available in boxes of its own.
